ARCH CITY REMINDS YOU OF THE HISTORY OF COLUMBUS IN A HAND-CRAFTED SETTING.
Columbus is home to the bustling Short North Arts District, a central area full of local boutiques and some of the best food in the state of Ohio. It’s the center of the local movement in the city, and home to some fascinating history. In 1888, High Street was lit by wooden arches to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Northwest Territory. Columbus became known nationwide as “Arch City”.
We may do websites for companies across the US (and globally), but we love our hometown. Connecting with Arch City was easy, and its historical inspiration was something we wanted to display across their entire digital presence. The responsive web design made it easy to find Arch City and their menu from any device. And we know from experience that a bar needs a strong social media presence.
Our goal was to give them a strong local voice on social media, while playing to Columbus’ history and warm light in the photography. They’re strongly positioned within the local scene in a unique way. The local aesthetic is clean, bright, and flat design. Arch City asserts themselves by overlaying that aesthetic on to rustic tavern photography.
Arch City Tavern is already a staple of the Short North, and a popular weekend or happy hour hangout. Getting a walk-in table for dinner is difficult on the weekends, and their Facebook page has almost one thousand fans who see their specials on a weekly basis.
Drawn from local history and a part of local culture, Arch City isn’t going anywhere any time soon. And as Columbus’ nickname makes a comeback, they’ve already capitalized on what will be lucrative real estate in the copy world. Inspired by history, forward thinking.
